It has been a very long process to change my purchase habits, however I have evolved a lot since a few years ago.
I started to quit cheap fast fashion stores such as Zara, H&M, Pull&Bear etc. and I just quit shopping there overnight as I did not want to spend my money in companies I do not believe in and which do not have aligned values with mine.
After that, I changed my relationship to clothing as I changed my mindset completely. I stopped seeing clothes as something nice I can buy now and then and I started buying less, but better, by investing in high quality, timeless pieces I really loved and I knew I would keep and cherish for years. For that step I shopped at higher quality stores such as Maje, Sandro and Claudie Pierlot, for example. I would only buy a few items per year.
The next step I took towards a more sustainable and ethical consumption was to buy second-hand clothes on vinted, which allowed me to find things at smaller prices without feeling guilty about it.
Finally, I tried thrift shopping for the first time recently (here is the video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHkK2SKxeLI) and in future I plan to start purchasing from sustainable stores and try to support local business that make an effort for sustainability and ethical production.
